Lumba was heartbroken over Theresa Abrebrese- Mama Acheampong reveals

Mama Acheampong, the woman who discovered Daddy Lumba’s talent back in 1982 and became his adoptive mother, has opened up about the legendary musician’s early love life and the heartbreak that helped shape his music career.
Speaking with renowned media personality Saddick Adams, also known as Sports Obama, Mama Acheampong detailed how a young Daddy Lumba was deeply in love with a woman named Theresa Abrebese during his formative years.
“Lumba loved Theresa deeply. He told me several times that he was going to marry her,” Mama Acheampong revealed during the live interview monitred by MyNewsGh.
“But her father had other plans. He arranged for her to marry another man. That decision broke Lumba’s heart.”
According to Mama Acheampong, the pain Lumba felt after losing Theresa inspired him to channel his emotions into music.
“He was devastated,” she said. “He went straight to the studio and recorded diss songs for the man who had taken Theresa from him. He poured all his heartbreak into those tracks.”
Mama Acheampong also disclosed that the man who married Theresa later approached her, asking her to talk to Lumba to stop the musical attacks.
“He came to me and said if I didn’t talk to Lumba, he’d take further action. That’s how serious it got,” she recalled.
Interestingly, Theresa is the same woman Daddy Lumba immortalized in one of his most beloved songs, a touching tribute that remains a fan favourite to this day.
