Why I apologized to President Mahama—Kennedy Agyapong explains

Former Assin Central Member of Parliament and flagbearer hopeful of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kennedy Agyapong, has disclosed that he will not criticize the John Dramani Mahama government.

According to the firebrand politician, his decision stems from the fact that his harsh criticism of the president was used against him when he decided to contest for the flagbearer spot in the New Patriotic Party.

Kennedy Agyapong was speaking on Accra-based Pan African Television when he made this known.

To him, it is better to be quiet and not be critical of the current government, to also save his image, since his criticism was used against him and pitched him as someone who cannot be presidential material.

“During the campaign, they wrote ten sins of Kennedy Agyapong. That is why I apologized to President Mahama because he has been very nice to me; he loves me and everything, his wife…Because of the party, I ignored this relationship and criticized him. I have to be honest, I was harsh.

Only for me to come out…When I was criticizing NDC, my party was happy, but when I decided to contest, that was the time that they used all the things against me. All the things that I used to defend NDC became a sin, and they circled it around the ten sins of Kennedy Agyapong. In the bible, they have ten commandments, and since Abraham’s time, they’ve not added one to make it eleven, so ten sins of Kennedy Agyapong, and I will not go and say anything for you to add my eleven sins or twelve sins,” he said.

He noted that he has spotted several shortfalls in the current government but has had to keep them to himself because his outburst against the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) will be used against him.
