Akwatia by-election: NDC holds primary today.

The National Democratic Congress in the Akwatia Constituency will today, August 4, go to the polls to elect a candidate for the September 2 by-elections.
Three persons have so far filed their nominations to contest for the parliamentary candidate position.
The three are their 2024 parliamentary candidate, Henry Boakye Yiadom, who is a one-time Member of Parliament for the Akwatia constituency.
The others are Erasmus Koney Ali, known popularly as Asanka, who has been an assembly member and a presiding member at the Assembly, and lawyer Bernard Bediako Baidoo, who is new.
The primaries scheduled to take place on Monday, August 4, 2025, will run from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at designated polling centers across the constituency.
Context of Primaries
The Electoral Commission has set September 2, 2025, as the date for the by-election in Alwatia.
This was after the sitting member of parliament, Ernest Kumi, died six months after the 2024 election.
