Our loss, heaven’s gain – Ablakwa mourns Sam Pee Yalley

Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has paid a moving tribute to the late Ambassador Sam Pee Yalley, describing him as a devoted public servant whose legacy will not be forgotten.
In a message shared on Facebook following the funeral held over the weekend, Ablakwa wrote: “Rest well Ambassador Sam Pee Yalley.
“Yours was an extraordinary commitment to public service where you excelled to the admiration of all. Due to your track record of success, you earned President Mahama’s second nomination as Ambassador but the Almighty had other plans. Our loss, Heaven’s gain.”
Ambassador Yalley, Ghana’s former High Commissioner to India, passed away on Sunday, April 6, 2025, at the age of 70 after a period of illness. His death marked the end of a distinguished career in public service that spanned law, politics, and diplomacy.
He was widely recognized for his work at the National Pensions Regulatory Authority (NPRA), where he first served as Deputy CEO and later as acting Chief Executive Officer. During his tenure, he played a pivotal role in reforming Ghana’s pension policies and pushing for greater accountability within the sector.
In 2014, he was appointed Ghana’s Ambassador to India by then-President John Dramani Mahama, a position he held with distinction, deepening bilateral ties and expanding Ghana’s diplomatic outreach in South Asia.
