Mahama rolls out scholarships for Cocoa farmers’ children

Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson has announced a major educational initiative aimed at supporting cocoa farming communities.
In a post shared on Facebook, the minister revealed that former President John Dramani Mahama has introduced a Tertiary Education Scholarship Scheme specifically for children of cocoa farmers.
According to Dr. Forson, the Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD) will, in the upcoming 2025/26 cocoa season, work out the modalities for the implementation of the scheme. The Cocoa Tertiary Scholarship Scheme is expected to take full effect from the 2026/27 academic year.
“This is great news for cocoa farmers across the country,” Dr. Forson wrote. “It is my pleasure to announce to cocoa farmers that President Mahama has introduced a Tertiary Education Scholarship Scheme for children of cocoa farmers.”
The announcement has already begun generating positive reactions online.
