I don’t think of death – Murtala Mohammed’s final interview resurfaces

The last known interview of the late Minister for Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation, Alhaji Dr Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, has resurfaced online following the tragic military helicopter crash that claimed his life.

Speaking on Diamond Power Drive, Dr Murtala Mohammed revealed a deeply philosophical view on life and mortality. “I don’t think of death. Material things don’t shape my perspective. I live by principles and purpose,” he calmly stated during the interview, now being widely shared across social media platforms.

The interview, which at the time seemed like a thoughtful reflection, has now taken on an eerily prophetic tone in light of his untimely passing.

Dr Murtala Mohammed was among eight people who lost their lives when a Ghana Armed Forces Z-9 helicopter crashed in the Adansi Akrofuom District of the Ashanti Region. The accident, which occurred on August 6, 2025, also claimed the lives of the Minister for Defence, Dr Edward Omane Boamah, and high-ranking NDC figures such as Dr Samuel Sarpong, Alhaji Muniru Mohammed, and Samuel Aboagye.
