Cedi@60 national launch postponed following helicopter tragedy

The Bank of Ghana has announced the postponement of the national launch of the Cedi@60 Anniversary celebrations, initially slated for Friday, August 8, 2025, at the Accra International Conference Centre.
The postponement follows the tragic helicopter crash that claimed the lives of two ministers of state and six others on Wednesday, August 6, 2025.
In response, President John Dramani Mahama declared a three-day period of national mourning.
A statement from the Bank of Ghana expressed appreciation for the understanding and cooperation of stakeholders and the general public during this solemn period.
It also noted that a new date for the national launch will be communicated in due course.
The Bank assured the public of its commitment to honouring the lives lost while continuing to mark the milestone of six decades of the Cedi’s history when the time is appropriate.
