Ghana’s High Commissioner to UK demands arrest of 69-year-old man accused of abusing minor

Ghana’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, H.E. Mrs. Sabah Zita Benson, has called for the immediate arrest of a 69-year-old man who allegedly began a sexual relationship with a girl when she was just seven years old.

In a Facebook post, the diplomat expressed outrage after watching a video on a local television channel in which a 17-year-old girl claimed she had been in a relationship with the man for the past 10 years.

The shocking revelation was compounded by the man’s own admission, according to Benson, that the relationship began when the victim was only a child.

“Ministry of Gender, this man needs to be arrested. Ah!” she wrote, adding multiple angry-face emojis to underline her disgust at the situation.

The case, if confirmed, could involve multiple criminal offences under Ghana’s laws protecting minors, including statutory rape.
