Squadron Leader Anala has over a decade of flying experience

It is emerging that Squadron Leader Peter Abaafeme Anala, one of the eight (8) victims of the military helicopter crash, has over a decade of flying experience.

According to a senior military officer who spoke to MyNewsGh.com’s Stephen Zoure on grounds of strict anonymity, Squadron Leader Peter Abaafeme Anala is one of the most experienced pilots in the Ghana Armed Forces.

“He has personally flown me to several places, and I have no doubt he is one of the most experienced pilots we have in the service. “It takes a lot of experience and professionalism for someone to attain the rank of a Squadron Leader,” our source revealed.

The serving military officer was reacting to claims by a section of the Ghanaian public that Squadron Leader Peter Abaafeme Anala was inexperienced, for which reason the crash may have occurred. Our source, however, discounted such claims, insisting that those persons were making baseless arguments borne out of ignorance.

His argument is given credence by Interior Minister Alhaji Mohammed Mubarak Muntaka who has revealed that the crew has, on a number of occasions, flown him to Tamale.

On Monday, August 11, the Minister shared his personal connection with the entire team, recalling multiple official missions during which they had flown him to various parts of the country.

“In all eight, interestingly, I have had an encounter with each of them,” he said.

“The team, including Squadron Leader Anala flew me to Tamale, then to Kumasi, and back to Accra. They flew me to Assin Fosu twice, and also to Ankaful.”

It would be recalled that Dr. Edward Omane Boamah and Alhaji Mutala Mohammed, ministers of Defense and Environment, respectively, and six others perished on Wednesday, August 8, 2025, while on board a military helicopter en route to Obuasi from Accra for a state function.

Two of the deceased persons have since been buried, including Dr Murtala Mohamed and Alhaji Muniru Limuna, a Deputy National Security Coordinator.
