Parliamentary candidate for the New Patriotic Party in the Akwatia Constituency, Solomon Kwame Asumadu, has declared himself as the Joshua of the Akwatia Constituency.
Relying on the Bible to back his claim, he indicated that just as Moses was charged with taking the Israelites to the Promised Land but could not finish the journey, and Joshua was appointed to lead the Israelites, he has come to complete the work of Ernest Kumi.
“I know that Ernest Kumi had the development of the Akwatia constituency at heart. He wanted to transform the constituency, and that is certainly what I will do when I’m voted into power,” he said.
He continued, “I am the Joshua of our time, and as Joshua took the Israelites to the promised land, I have been chosen to take Akwatia to the promised land. I don’t just talk, and everyone who has dealt with me knows that I am an action man. I don’t have to rely on the common fund to support my people, I am here for the progress of Akwatia, prosperity for the youth, and development for all.”
Education
He noted that there are stories suggesting that he is uneducated.
However, he debunked the claims, indicating that he has been educated to the tertiary level and has all the needed educational qualifications.
“I studied human resource management, and you know that is not studied in the primary school level, so people who are saying I am uneducated do not know what they are saying. People who say I cannot speak in public should also be ashamed because that is never true,” he said while addressing party faithful during a unity walk held on August 17, 2025.
