Mahama to embark on official visits to Japan and Singapore

President John Dramani Mahama will be travelling to Japan and Singapore this month to strengthen bilateral ties, explore new investment opportunities, and participate in high-level economic and diplomatic engagements.

A communique from the Office of the President, signed by the Presidential Spokesperson, explained that the trip will begin in Japan, where Mahama is expected to attend the 9th Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD IX).

“At the conference, he will make a presentation at a plenary session on the Economy: Promoting Trade and Investment,” the statement noted.

The communique further outlined that the President will headline the Ghana Presidential Investment Forum in Japan, an event designed to showcase Ghana’s investment opportunities and highlight the Resetting Ghana agenda.

According to the statement, Mahama will also hold bilateral meetings with the Prime Minister of Japan, Shigeru Ishiba, as well as with the President of JICA and officials of JETRO to discuss cooperation in trade, infrastructure, and technical partnerships.

From Japan, Mahama will continue to Singapore for a three-day state visit.

“In Singapore, the President will pay a courtesy call on President Tharman Shanmugaratnam, meet with Prime Minister Lawrence Wong, and participate in the Africa-Singapore Business Forum.

“He will also address an investment forum to present Ghana’s reform and investment priorities and strengthen private-sector linkages,” the statement added.
