Ridge Hospital breaks silence on viral video, calls assault on nurse ‘unacceptable’

The Greater Accra Regional Hospital (Ridge Hospital) has reacted to a viral video capturing a clash between its emergency staff and a group that included a popular social media activist.

According to hospital authorities, the chaos began when relatives and friends of accident victims stormed the emergency triage, demanding faster treatment.

Their actions disrupted ongoing care, created tension, and led to an assault on a nurse. Police were called in to restore order.

In a statement signed by Head of Public Relations, Juliana Hariwa, the hospital explained that clinicians were already handling multiple emergencies at the time.

Management condemned the attack on staff as “unacceptable,” stressing that such conduct endangers both healthcare workers and patients.

The hospital further cautioned against filming in clinical areas without consent, citing privacy concerns. While it did not directly address claims of negligence, it urged the public to show “cooperation and mutual respect” to ensure safe and effective care delivery.
