Naana Jane assures Prisons service of improved conditions

Ghana’s Vice President, Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, has assured the Ghana Prisons Service of improved conditions within the service.

She says as a nation, it is our duty to ensure dignified conditions for inmates, to offer meaningful reforms, and to provide the necessary support for their reintegration into society.

The Vice President made this known when she met with the hierarchy of the Ghana Prisons Service, led by the Director General, Mrs. Patience Baffoe-Bonnie.

Insisting on collaborations for the agency, the vice president urged the prison service to engage in public education with the support of other agencies and the media.

She noticed the prison service has ventured into agriculture and appreciated the expansion effort.

Today, I held a meeting with the hierarchy of the Ghana Prisons Service, led by the Director General, Mrs. Patience Baffoe-Bonnie. We discussed challenges facing the Service and how we can address them.

I also spoke about the need for strong public education and encouraged collaboration with other state agencies and the media. I commended the Service for its interventions, particularly its promising campaign in agriculture.

I assured the leadership of Government’s commitment to improving conditions within the Prisons Service. As a responsible nation, it is our duty to ensure dignified conditions for inmates, to offer meaningful reforms, and to provide the necessary support for their reintegration into society.
