Beulah Land Ekklesia urges youth to shun sexual promiscuity

Beulah Land Ekklesia, as part of efforts to eliminate sexual violence and other vices among the youth, has embarked on a sensitisation programme for young people between the ages of thirteen and twenty-five, urging them to stay positive and shun sexual promiscuity and other behaviours frowned upon by society.

Held under the theme: “Purge Yourself”, participants were taken through topics including AI and the Youth, 21st Century Skills, Pushing for Success, Career Paths, The Youth and the Police, and Handling Emotions, among others.

The Vision Bearer of Beulah Land Ekklesia, Dr. Priscilla Commey Mintah, explained that Beulah Land, which is a restful prayer center, brought on board the young and old from adjoining communities and beyond to experience God’s presence through a series of eventful programmes.

Dr. Commey Mintah observed that “what is happening in the world in recent times requires a swift response, hence, drawing young people closer to God.”

She therefore called on individuals and benevolent organizations that wish to support the work of God to assist Beulah in reaching out to many people in society.

“As the Bible puts it: ‘Come awhile with Me,’ there is therefore the need to have some quiet time with God to be able to restrategize,” the Vision Bearer of Beulah Land Ekklesia stated.

The Guest Speaker, Professor Roselyne Okech from Memorial University, Canada, stressed the demands of the world which are taking parents’ attention away from their children and called on parents not to shirk their responsibilities in their bid to put food on the table.

She emphasised that “there’s a lot of pressure on the youth, including societal pressures and academic pressures, and as such this programme is very good because we include many dimensions. We expose the youth to many aspects of life so that they are well prepared to engage the world.”

“They will have the tools that can help them navigate this pressurized world.”

She urged parents to take time to find out what their children do at any given moment to limit vices among them and to monitor the time they spend on social media.

“What we do is buy children gadgets to manipulate, so their relationship is no longer human but with those gadgets.”

Dr. Okech hoped parents and guardians would embrace their children and communicate with them frequently to understand their needs and to help resolve some of the storms they face as young people.
