Nana Samgba Gyafla II joins One-Week observance of late Asantehemaa

The one-week observance of Nana Konadu Yiadom III, the late Asantehemaa, is ongoing at the Manhyia Palace, drawing traditional leaders, priests, and dignitaries from across Asanteman and beyond.

Nana Konadu Yiadom III, who passed away on August 7, was deeply revered as the mother of the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, and a key pillar of Asante tradition.

Her passing has left the kingdom in mourning, with a series of cultural rites scheduled to honour her memory.

Traditional priests and priestesses gathered at the palace to perform spiritual rituals, led by Baffuor Asabre Kogyawoasu Ababio, Otumfuo’s Sumankwaahene.

The rites, he explained, were essential in acknowledging the Queen Mother’s journey to join the ancestors, underscoring the enduring role of deities in Asante heritage.

Among the notable figures present was Nana Samgba Gyafla II, Sampamanhene, who joined chiefs, elders, and the larger community in paying respects to the late Queen Mother.
