Police deploy reinforcements to Sawla, Gbiniyiri, Giniri, and other adjoining communities

The Ghana Police Service says it is deploying reinforcements to Sawla, Gbiniyiri, Giniri, and other adjoining communities in the Savannah Region.
The decision follows the recent communal clashes in the Savannah Region.
A statement shared via the Service’s social media said the deployment is being done in collaboration with the Ghana Armed Forces and other stakeholders to intensify security at Sawla, Gbiniyiri, Giniri, and other adjoining communities in the Savannah Region.
Meanwhile, the Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Christian Tetteh Yohuno is leading a team from the National Police Headquarters to further assess the security situation and engage with the chiefs, opinion leaders, and other community leaders.
Reports indicate at least five deaths as of Sunday, many injured, and significant destruction of livelihoods.
The situation continues to deteriorate, with vulnerable families, including women and children, left exposed.
