“Dumsor” caused fire outbreak at GWCL’s Dodowa booster station

The Ministry of Works and Housing has announced that the fire outbreak that occurred at the Dodowa Booster Station was caused by intermittent power outages in the area.

This was disclosed after the Deputy Minister, Hon. Gizella Tetteh-Agbotui embarked on a working visit to the Ghana Water Ltd’s Booster station in Dodowa to assess the extent of damage to their supply facility following a fire outbreak to two (2) of the station’s control panels, causing water supply disruptions in the North Eastern part of the country.

In a Facebook post announcing this, the Ministry of Works and Housing said “Earlier today, the sector Deputy Minister, Hon. From the briefings by the station manager, Mr Adolf Agbezuhlor, the fire was caused by intermittent power outages in the area”.

It will be recalled that Ghana Water Ltd (GWL) has announced a temporary interruption in water supply to parts of North-Eastern Accra following a fire outbreak at the Dodowa Booster Station.

In a statement released on Saturday, August 23, the utility company said the incident had forced management to shut down operations at the facility to allow for comprehensive repair works.

Meanwhile, the damage to the panels has been promptly fixed, and water supply has since been restored.
