We do politics with courage, not fear — Afenyo-Markin hits back at Azorka

Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin has brushed off threats allegedly made against him by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) National Vice Chairman, Chief Sofo Azorka, urging supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Akwatia to remain calm and courageous.
Afenyo-Markin alleged that Chief Azorka had threatened his life but insisted he would not be intimidated.
“I have heard that the NDC’s Vice Chairman, Chief Sofo Azorka, said that he wants to ‘kill’ me. We know them — the infamous Azorka Boys; all they know is beating people up and killing others. So, this is not his first time threatening people. But I am not a coward,” he told journalists Akwatia.
The confrontation occurred after Mr. Afenyo-Markin made an unannounced visit to the NDC’s party office in Akwatia. The move reportedly angered party executives, who accused him of provoking supporters ahead of the constituency’s high-stakes by-election.
Despite the growing tensions, Mr. Afenyo-Markin urged NPP supporters not to panic or be swayed by threats, calling for resilience and unity.
“There are foot soldiers on the ground. So, nobody should let the words of Azorka put fear into anybody. We do not do politics with fear; it’s all about courage,” he said.
The Minority Leader also invoked the sacrifices of political forebearers, reminding supporters that democracy has always required bravery and perseverance.
“Our forebearers spent time in jail all for the sake of politics, so don’t let anybody put fear into you,” he emphasised.
