We arrested him for offensive conduct conducive to breach of peace

The Ghana Police Service has announced the arrest of Mr. Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye, for what it described as “offensive conduct conducive to the breach of the peace.”
In a statement shared on the Service’s official social media pages on Monday, September 8, 2025, the police confirmed that Abronye was taken into custody and is expected to be put before court.
“He is currently in custody and will be put before Court,” the statement read.
The arrest follows heightened public attention around the outspoken politician in recent weeks.
Abronye, known for his controversial political style, had recently filed applications for asylum in eight countries — Côte d’Ivoire, the United States, France, Italy, Canada, Spain, the United Kingdom, and Germany.
In his petitions, he claimed he was facing “consistent, escalating political persecution, threats to my life, and systemic abuse of state security powers by the current Government of Ghana,” insisting that these conditions warranted international protection.
Ahead of his arrest, reports emerged that armed officers raided the home of former NPP Youth Organiser, Moses Abor, in search of Abronye, but he was not found at the location.
