Naana Opoku-Agyemang reaffirms Ghana’s commitment at Africa Climate Summit

Vice President Naana Opoku-Agyemang has underscored Ghana’s dedication to climate action, calling for bold and innovative strategies to transform climate risks into opportunities for Africa.
Speaking at the 2nd Africa Climate Summit in Addis Ababa, she highlighted Ghana’s role as host of the Climate Vulnerable Forum and the Vulnerable 20 Group, stressing the country’s leadership in driving the continent’s climate agenda.
“I reiterated Ghana’s commitment to tackling climate change, underlined by our role as host of the Climate Vulnerable Forum and Vulnerable 20 Group,” she stated in a post on her social media page.
The Vice President urged African nations to embrace innovation, green growth, and sustainable practices, noting that the continent must shift from being a mere consumer of technology to a contributor and leader in climate solutions.
“Our focus must be on turning climate risks into opportunities through innovation, green growth, and sustainable practices.
“Africa cannot afford to be a mere consumer of technology; we must become contributors and leaders in climate solutions,” she emphasized.
She further called on leaders to invest in nature-based solutions, citing Ethiopia’s 40 billion trees project as a prime example of how local action can drive transformation.
According to her, climate policies must be rooted in regional cooperation, partnerships, and shared responsibility.
“Ultimately, Africa’s climate agenda must not only reduce vulnerabilities but also empower communities to thrive sustainably.
