Former Vice President and 2024 flagbearer for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, is in the Ashanti Region for a campaign tour ahead of the NPP’s 2026 flagbearership primaries.
He arrived in Kumasi on Tuesday, September 10, 2025.
The purpose of this tour is to engage with the party in the region and outline his vision for the party ahead of the crucial 2026 primary.
MyNewsGh.com is informed that the tour will cover seven key operational zones within the Ashanti region, which they believe will allow for comprehensive reach.
Bawumia is expected to speak on party unity and re-energize the base of the political party, which is currently in opposition.
The tour, according to his handlers, will commence Adansi, Amansie and the Asante Akim zones on Wednesday and will be followed by the Sekyere Effiduase -Kumawu zone, Nsuta-Mampong and the Afigya Kwabre zones on Thursday.
The third and final zones will comprise Ahafo Atwima and the two Kumasi Operational Zones.
After these preliminary tours, the former vice president will move into a full-scale campaign with visits to meet with electoral areas and polling station executives.
