Ghana condemns Israeli attack on Qatar, pledges solidarity with Emir

The Government of Ghana has condemned what it describes as an “unprovoked Israeli attack” on the sovereign State of Qatar, which has resulted in casualties, loss of lives, and destruction of property.

In a statement released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and shared by the sector minister, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the government expressed “deep concern” over the incident, describing the airstrikes as “a clear violation of international law and an affront to the sovereignty of the State of Qatar.”

According to the statement, the attack poses a serious threat to ongoing peace efforts between Israel and Palestine.

President John Dramani Mahama, on behalf of the government and people of Ghana, extended “solidarity with the Emir of Qatar, His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, and the people of Qatar in these difficult times.”

The government commended Qatar for its “tireless and impressive commitment towards resolving the conflict between Israel and Palestine” and urged that the incident “should not be allowed to derail Qatar’s efforts in negotiating a peaceful diplomatic resolution.”

Ghana reaffirmed its commitment to supporting all initiatives aimed at ensuring peace, security, and stability in the Middle East.
