We accepted 14 deported West African nationals from USA—Mahama

President of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama, has disclosed that Ghana accepted 14 West African immigrants deported from the United States of America.

Although they were supposed to have been made to stay in Ghana, he explained that the deported persons, made up of 13 Nigerians and a Gambian, opted to go back to their home countries.

The President disclosed that they have since been taken to their countries via bus transport, while the Gambian’s travel was facilitated by the embassy in Ghana.

The President made this revelation when he addressed the press in Accra on September 10, 2025.

“We were approached, and we agreed with them that West African nationals were accepted. That agreement has been activated. 14 nationals came, but they opted to go back home, so we put them in buses to go back home. One of them was a Gambian, so we let their embassy know so they could facilitate his movement.”
