NPP’s national and regional officers must resign—Addai Nimo

A leading member of the New Patriotic Party, Addai Nimo, has called on all national executives of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to resign from the positions they occupy.
According to him, they have failed woefully, and it will be an insult to the intelligence of the members of the party if the same officers pick forms to contest for positions in the party again.
To him, the NPP needs an overhaul of its machinery to make the political party better.
“We went for an election and performed badly. We could not get even 90 seats. We got 88, and after a by-election, we now have 87. It is just right that national officers resign from their positions with immediate effect.
It should not only be national officers; regional officers also have to resign. In the Greater Accra region, out of 34 seats, the party had only 5 seats, while the NDC had 29. So what should motivate the regional executives to seek re-election or go for another position? Go to the Volta Region; the NPP has zero seats. So what will make the regional chairman go in for another election?
The Ashanti Regional Chairman said he will get 47 seats, but he could not achieve that and wants to vie for another position in the political party. That should not be right. So I back Chairman Butey’s position of not seeking re-election in the party. We need a party overhaul after such a defeat,” he said.
