Bawumia has ‘no size’ among all vice presidents in Ghana

Former Majority Leader of Parliament, Hon. Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, has lauded Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, describing him as the most effective and impactful Vice President in Ghana’s history.

Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu explained that the Vice President’s achievements stand out because he was given the space to apply his competence.

“Since then, the Vice President technically has no fixed constitutional duties unless the President assigns them.

“But recognizing Bawumia’s competence, President Akufo-Addo gave him space to operate and just look at the results,” he said in an interview on Wontumi TV.

According to him, what makes Bawumia different from his predecessors is not just ideas, but visible outcomes.

“What separates him from past Vice Presidents is the sheer scale, vision, and impact of his work. These are not just ideas — they are results. He stands tall among all others,” he stressed.

He drew comparisons with previous holders of the office, arguing that Bawumia’s record was unmatched.

“Even Mahama, who claimed to be a lucky Vice President, didn’t achieve this. And respectfully, look at the performance of the late Amissah-Arthur. Bawumia, by his own competence and knowledge in economic management, has made an indelible mark,” Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu noted.

The former Majority Leader pointed to Bawumia’s proposals to the Bank of Ghana and his digitalization reforms as evidence of his visionary leadership.

“His proposals to the Bank of Ghana and his digitalization agenda show the kind of visionary he is. He’s very creative, very competent, and clearly blessed by God. That’s why many of us are proud to follow him,” he added.

Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu further highlighted some of Bawumia’s signature contributions to national development, including the Agenda 111 hospital infrastructure project, drone medical delivery services, the Gold Purchase Program for the Bank of Ghana, the Gold-for-Oil policy, the Zongo Development Fund, nationwide ambulance distribution, and the digitalization of public services and the economy.
