NPP’s Richard Agyemang accuses NDC of double standards over new ‘D-levy

Richard Agyemang of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has lashed out at the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), accusing them of hypocrisy and inconsistency in handling national policies.
Speaking on Wontumi Radio/TV, Agyemang argued that the NDC’s current actions directly contradict their earlier criticisms of the NPP.
“Mahama said we introduced the E-Levy to cripple already suffering Ghanaians, and blamed Bawumia for it. Yet today, he’s in power and has introduced what I call the ‘D-Levy,’” he said.
He added that such contradictions should be central to national debate.
“These are the issues we need to be talking about, exposing the lies and inconsistencies. We told them galamsey couldn’t be stopped overnight, but they claimed we were lying. Today, Ghanaians can see the truth for themselves,” he stressed.
According to Agyemang, during the 2024 election campaign, John Mahama and the NDC vehemently opposed the E-Levy, accusing the NPP of worsening the economic struggles of ordinary citizens.
But, he argued, the NDC’s current tax and energy policies show that their stance has shifted dramatically now that they are in power.
