Accra-based Hearts of Oak started the season with a goalless draw against newly promoted side Hoehoe United.
The game, which is the first to kick off the season, was very competitive as both sides wanted to prove a point.
The Volta Region side played a large part of the second half with 10 men after Solomon Agbasi was sent off for his second yellow card.
