Bawumia supporters must be circumspect towards Ken – Nyamah

New Patriotic Party (NPP) stalwart Richard Nyamah has called for restraint and unity within the party as it prepares for the 2028 elections, emphasizing that Kennedy Agyepong will be central to the NPP’s chances of reclaiming power.

Nyamah, in an opinion piece assessing the party’s path forward, stressed that factionalism must be carefully managed if Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is to lead the NPP back to government. “NPP coming back in 2028 will largely depend on Ken balancing the scales,” he cautioned.

He urged Bawumia’s supporters to avoid inflammatory rhetoric towards Agyepong and his base.

“The perceived factions within the party will largely come to the table and work for power if Ken feels fairly treated and loses fair and square,” he wrote.

Nyamah also praised other prominent figures in the party, singling out Bryan Acheampong as a leader with great potential.

“Young, vibrant, experienced, he is one for the future,” Nyamah said, adding that the Abetifi MP will have his time to contest for leadership but should allow Bawumia to carry the flag in 2028.

He underscored that the NPP’s return to power would depend not only on history and voter behavior but also on how well the party manages its internal dynamics.

“Our comeback requires balance. If we mismanage relationships within, we will hand the advantage to our opponents,” he warned.

While Nyamah declared his unflinching support for Bawumia, he made it clear that victory in 2028 will be a collective effort: one that requires both loyalty to the chosen candidate and fairness to those who step aside.
