President Mahama joins Asanteman in farewell to Nana Konadu Yiadom III

President John Dramani Mahama joined mourners at the Manhyia Palace on September 18, 2025, to pay his last respects to the late Queen Mother of Asanteman, Nana Konadu Yiadom III.
The President was part of a long list of dignitaries who graced the solemn rites, including former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, former MP for Assin Central Kennedy Agyapong, founder of the Movement for Change Alan Kyerematen, and founder of the New Force Nana Kwame Bediako. Their presence underscored the national significance of the moment, as Ghanaians united in honoring the memory of the late Asantehemaa.

Mahama, who was accompanied by a delegation, paid homage to Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, King of the Asante Kingdom, and extended his solidarity to Asanteman in their period of grief.
The funeral was also attended by international dignitaries such as Eswatini Prime Minister Russell Mmiso Dlamini and Deputy Prime Minister Senator Thulisile Dladla.
Former Presidents Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and John Agyekum Kufuor, as well as other notable figures including former Second Lady Samira Bawumia and former First Lady Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings, were also present.

The rites for Nana Konadu Yiadom III began on September 15 and climaxed with her burial on September 18, when she was laid to rest at the royal mausoleum at Breman Abusuakruwa.
To mark the final journey of the Asantehemaa, restrictions on outdoor movement were observed across Kumasi from 7 pm.
