Armah Buah urges unity at Nkrumah’s 116th birthday celebration

The Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, has urged Ghanaians to recommit themselves to the ideals of Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah as the nation marked the 116th anniversary of his birth.

Reflecting on the commemorative activities in Nkroful, the birthplace of Ghana’s first president, Buah described the occasion as a moment of national reflection and renewal.

“Yesterday, at Nkroful, the revered birthplace of Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, we gathered for the grand durbar of the 2025 Journey to Nkroful, commemorating the 116th anniversary of his birth,” he wrote on his Facebook page.

The celebration drew a wide range of dignitaries, which Buah highlighted with pride.

“We were deeply honoured by the presence of a host of ministers of state, our eminent paramount chiefs, chiefs and queen mothers, distinguished guests, members of parliament, and Ghanaians from all walks of life,” he noted.

At the heart of the commemoration, Buah emphasized, was the lasting vision of Dr. Nkrumah.

“Together, we reflected on the profound and enduring legacy of Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, the founder and first president of the nation.

“His visionary developmental projects and ideals endure as they were conceived not for the next election, but for the next century and for generations yet unborn.”

He further used the moment to call for renewed commitment to national duties, especially the protection of the environment.

“This journey is a call to rededicate ourselves to our cardinal responsibilities, particularly our collective duty to become fierce guardians of our natural environment. Let us continue this journey with unity and purpose.”
