NPP to vet flagbearer aspirants today

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) will today vet aspirants who are contesting for the flagbearer spot in the party.

The party per its electoral timelines was supposed to have held its vetting from September 15 to September 22.

However, no communication was given from the part on why the vetting could not take place on the stipulated dates.

However, reports indicate that former Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia will face the vetting committee today.

A leading contender for the flagbearership slot, Kennedy Agyapong is also expected to face the committee today.

Other aspirants including Dr Yaw Adutwum, Dr Bryan Acheampong and Ing. Kwabena Agyepong will take their turns today.

Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, Kennedy Agyapong, Dr Osei Yaw Adutwum, Ing. Kwabena Agyepong and Dr Bryan Acheampong have filed their nominations to contest for the position.

The party is expected to go to the polls on January 31, 2026 to elect a flagbearer.

The decision of an early primary is to douse the tension in the party.
