It’s our birth right – Miracles Aboagye trade words with Erastus Donkor over galamsey stance

Former presidential staffer and a leading figure of the Bawumia Campaign Team, Dennis Miracles Aboagye, has responded to investigative journalist and anti-galamsey campaigner Erastus Asare Donkor, following comments suggesting he was late in joining the fight against illegal mining.
Erastus, in a social media post, remarked, “Let me officially welcome Dennis Miracles Aboagye to the Galamsey fight. Today I watched him explain the need to fight Galamsey because babies are being born deformed. Heeerrrrh!!”
But Aboagye, who has recently been vocal on the devastating impact of galamsey in communities like Agona East, rejected the idea that he is only now finding his voice on the issue. In a strongly worded rebuttal, he accused the journalist of prejudice against NPP figures who speak out on galamsey.
“You don’t get to welcome any Ghanaian to speak up against galamsey. It’s our birth right. The video you reference has been around since 8th October, 2022. You are now seeing it today because you have always had a prejudice about NPP members when it comes to the fight against galamsey,” Aboagye argued.
He went further to question Erastus’s consistency, pointing to the NDC’s previous position on small-scale mining.
“You disagreed with me when I said ban on small scale mining was not the way to go. You supported the NDC in their call for a ban which led them into putting it into their social contract. I think you should spend some energy on getting them to fulfil that promise. Consistency matters!”
Aboagye maintained that his stance on illegal mining has always been clear and unwavering. “I have been more consistent and principled on galamsey than most and I won’t stop nor wait for your welcome party,” he stressed.
