Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah committed to fighting galamsey

MP for Ellembelle, Hon. Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah who doubles as Minister of Lands and Natural Resources as well as caretaker Minister for Environment has commenced vigorous training for security personnel drawn into the NAIMOS.
These men will be trained to professionally handle the menace and to be able to DETER, HALT, DISCOURAGE and ARREST perpetrators.
President Mahama is not opposed to mining but frowns heavily on illegal and irresponsible mining especially on our WATER BODIES and in FOREST RESERVES
These men will be deployed to over 44 major flashpoints plus some others to be stationed there in the fight against Galamsey.
It is expected however that they collaborate with traditional authorities without compromising the mission however.
NAIMOS is the next big step by the Minister to combat Galamsey after the directive of President Mahama for no new licenses to be issued, a consideration of repeal of LI 2462, setting up of Blue water guards and the rCOMSDEP (Responsible Community Mining & Skills Development Programme), tracking and geo-fencing of new excavators, etc.
This task force is expected to work tirelessly without failure to yield the results Ghanaians want to see, a drastic reduction in the turbidity of our waters, followed by other actions to reduce and eliminate the heavy metals contained in our waters owing to Galamsey.
