Instead of jobs and development, NDC is using police to intimidate us — Okoe Boye

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) staged a protest in Accra on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, accusing the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government of abandoning its campaign pledges and instead resorting to intimidation tactics.

Former Member of Parliament for Ledzekuku and Health Minister, Dr. Bernard Okoe Boye, addressed the crowd, arguing that the NDC had shifted its focus from promises of development to political persecution.

“The NDC government showed a message of hope. They told Ghanaians that the youth are unemployed and promised a 24-hour economy that would create jobs. They even said they would open a bank to support women entrepreneurs,” Okoe Boye said.

He accused the government of failing to deliver on these commitments. “After getting power, the NDC has forgotten their message. Today, they are using the police to intimidate Ghanaians,” he added.

Okoe Boye urged the Ghana Police Service not to allow themselves to be used as tools of political oppression.

“Don’t allow a politician to use you to be unprofessional. The politician will not be there forever. Use the training and knowledge you were given to be fair to all Ghanaians,” he appealed.

The NPP demonstration comes amid concerns about the arrests of key party figures, including Bernard Antwi-Boasiako (Chairman Wontumi) and Kwame Baffoe (Abronye DC). The opposition party insists that such actions are deliberate attempts to weaken their structures and silence dissent.

According to Okoe Boye, the government risks squandering its mandate. “If this government doesn’t focus, they might lose all the goodwill Ghanaians used to vote for them,” he warned.
