I will contest for NDC flagbearer in 2028

Former Adentan Member of Parliament, Kojo Adu-Asare, has openly declared his intention to vie for the flagbearership of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the lead-up to the 2028 elections.
Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen, the former lawmaker made the announcement public for the first time, saying, “I want to use this opportunity and platform to announce for the first time that I will contest for the NDC flagbearer.
“I, Kojo Adu-Asare. People want to bring my name, Benedict, back but I refuse. I will contest. Am I not eligible?”
He dismissed doubts about his capacity compared to other political figures who have previously sought presidential bids.
Adu-Asare argued, “Even Akua Donkor was a candidate, Kofi Akpaloo and the others. They are all my contemporaries.
“And the names coming up too—do I look deficient compared to some of them? Or is it about money? So I don’t have any problem. Let’s just watch the space.”
Despite speculation about early internal wrangling within the NDC, Adu-Asare maintained that there was “no storm” within the party, stressing that his declaration should not be misinterpreted as fueling division.
His announcement marks him as one of the early aspirants to formally express interest in succeeding President John Dramani Mahama as the NDC’s flagbearer in 2028.
