DVLA to roll out 24-hour operations nationwide in 2026

The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) has announced that beginning in 2026, its regional offices and selected offices in Greater Accra will begin operating around the clock to better serve the public.

In a statement dated September 17, 2025, the Authority explained: “Starting from 2026, we will extend our 24-hour operations to our regional offices with the exception of Oti, Savannah, and North East Regions. In addition to these regional offices, DVLA offices in Greater Accra will also begin 24-hour operations.”

The statement further noted that the initiative is part of a broader government plan to create a 24-hour economy. “This initiative is in line with government’s agenda to operate a 24-hour economy,” the DVLA said.

The Authority also highlighted the importance of the move for efficiency. “We believe that round-the-clock operations at these locations are necessary to effectively serve the public with vehicle registration and driver licensing services,” it added.

The DVLA concluded by calling for cooperation from the public: “The Authority seeks the public’s cooperation to ensure the smooth implementation of this initiative.”

Currently, the Adentan office in Accra operates on a 24-hour basis, and the planned expansion in 2026 is expected to bring significant relief to clients across the country.
