Trump administration unveils 21-point Gaza peace plan

The Trump administration has outlined a 21-point proposal aimed at ending the Gaza war, centering on the swift release of hostages and a post-war governance roadmap for the enclave.
According to a source familiar with the plan, Hamas would be required to free all hostages within 48 hours of an agreement in exchange for a phased Israeli troop withdrawal.
About 20 hostages are believed to still be alive.
The proposal also rules out any future role for Hamas in governing Gaza, instead envisioning interim oversight by an international body alongside a Palestinian committee.
President Donald Trump voiced optimism on Friday, saying negotiators are “very close” to a deal, just days after his envoy hinted at a possible “breakthrough.”
Yet the fighting rages on, with Israeli forces intensifying their offensive in Gaza City and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowing to press on “until Hamas is destroyed.”
The blueprint touches on one of the region’s most contentious issues: Palestinian statehood.
While it does not explicitly endorse a Palestinian state, it acknowledges it as an aspiration.
That recognition could create political friction for Netanyahu, whose government strongly opposes such a path.
Speaking at the UN, he doubled down, arguing; “Giving the Palestinians a state a mile from Jerusalem is like giving al-Qaeda a state one mile from New York City after September 11.”
The plan further specifies that Gaza’s population cannot be forcibly displaced, a shift from Trump’s earlier comments about relocating residents.
Still, uncertainty remains over how and when control might be transferred to the Palestinian Authority, which Israel has long resisted involving in Gaza.
