Three armed robbers sentenced to 75 years in hard labour

Three armed robbers have been handed a total of 75 years in prison with hard labour by the Offinso Circuit Court for attacking a truck driver and his mate at Asempanaye in the Ashanti Region.
The convicts, Nasiaru Abdul-Malik, 22, Solomon Kwaku Annor Clinton, 23, and Hakeem Ibrahim, 20, admitted to charges of conspiracy to commit robbery and robbery when they appeared before His Honour Paul Oduro Esq. on Thursday, September 26, 2025. Each received 10 years for conspiracy and 15 years for robbery, to run concurrently.
According to the facts presented in court, the robbery took place in the early hours of September 23, 2025, after a DAF trailer carrying bags of fertilizer from Tema broke down near Asempanaye.
Around 1:30 a.m., the three men, armed with an axe, a machete, and a pair of scissors, ambushed the driver and his mate.
They made away with a Samsung A24 Ultra smartphone valued at GH¢14,000, an Itel phone worth GH¢400, an Itel keypad phone valued at GH¢100, cash of GH¢140, and two bags containing personal belongings.
The Ashanti North Police Command explained that the suspects were arrested the same day through the swift intervention of community members.
“The youth of Asempanaye acted quickly, leading to the arrest of all three suspects and the retrieval of the stolen items,” the statement noted.
During interrogation, the robbers confessed to the crime and were subsequently processed for court. “They have been convicted and transferred to Kumasi Central Prison to begin their sentences,” police added.
