Ministry of Education rolls out AI apps for Senior High Schools

The Ministry of Education has announced the rollout of subject-specific Artificial Intelligence (AI) apps designed to enhance teaching and learning across Senior High Schools in Ghana.
In a statement, the Ministry explained, “The Subject Specific Apps are designed to provide digital support for teaching and learning in SHS.
They are focused on improving learning outcomes by providing content and guidance aligned to the SHS curriculum.”
The Ministry stressed that the initiative is different from existing platforms like the Professional Learning Community (PLC) app, which focuses on professional development for teachers.
“These apps are not just for teachers’ training. They provide direct support in subjects such as English Language, Integrated Science, Mathematics, and Social Studies, making it easier for teachers to deliver lessons and for students to study independently,”* the statement added.
Officials highlighted that the apps also create room for innovation, helping teachers adapt their teaching methods while giving students tools for self-assessment and continuous progress.
“We are committed to ensuring that these AI-powered apps contribute to effective teaching and improved learning outcomes,” the Ministry emphasized.
The rollout, which began on October 25, 2023, has already engaged more than 7,000 teachers nationwide in training sessions.
According to the Ministry, this training is a vital step in preparing schools to fully adopt the technology.
Concluding the statement, the Ministry called on schools to embrace the new tools, saying, “This is a transformative step in reshaping the future of education in Ghana. We urge all stakeholders to take full advantage of it.”
