Cocoa price raised to GHC 3,625 per bag

Finance Minister Ato Forson has announced a new increase in the producer price of cocoa, raising it to GHS3,625 per bag or GHC 58,000 per tonne.
The new price, which represents a GHC 400 increase per bag, will take effect from Friday, October 3, 2025.
“This represents an increase of about GHS400 per bag, equivalent to a 12.27% rise over the price announced in August,” the Minister stated.
He explained that all margins, fees, and rates to other stakeholders, including COCOBOD, will remain unchanged.
The government, through COCOBOD, will continue implementing key support interventions to boost cocoa production and improve the welfare of farmers.
“COCOBOD will continue to implement interventions to support cocoa production and improve the welfare of cocoa farmers,” Dr. Forson said.
“In particular, COCOBOD will intensify the supply of free cocoa fertilizers (liquid and granular), free insecticides, free spraying machines, free fungicides, and free flower inducers.”
He added that COCOBOD is also on schedule to roll out its new Tertiary Education Scholarship Scheme for children of cocoa farmers in the 2026/27 academic year, a move expected to ease educational costs for farming households.
