I insist that Prof. Jane can lead this country — Haruna Iddrisu reaffirms

Education Minister Haruna Iddrisu has once again underscored the leadership credentials of Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, stressing that her experience and composure position her well to assume Ghana’s highest office if the need arises.

In a trending video, Haruna reminded critics of the weight of his earlier public support for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) running mate, which some had over-interpreted.

“The other day, when I said she has my prayers, there were many of you who sought to give it your own interpretation,” he remarked.

“Professor Jane, I’m reminding them that my mother taught me that sometimes silence is golden because silence cannot be interpreted. But this one I wanted an interpretation because a vice president irreparably is a presumption that she can assume the high office of president.”

Haruna’s statement appeared deliberate, signaling confidence in Prof. Opoku-Agyemang’s readiness to lead, should circumstances demand. He referenced her rich academic background, including her tenure as Vice Chancellor of the University of Cape Coast, and positioned her as a figure of integrity and discipline.

“So, vice president of our republic, former vice chancellor of the University of Cape Coast, a prestigious university. And when I get the podium, I always do what is needful,” he declared as he introduced her to address the education community.

His remarks also highlighted the government’s policy directions under President John Dramani Mahama, particularly reforms within the education sector.
