Bagbin suspends commencement of third meeting of parliament

The Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, has announced a postponement of the Third Meeting of the First Session of the Ninth Parliament of the Fourth Republic.
In a formal notice issued from his office and dated October 6, 2025, the Speaker stated that the meeting, which had been scheduled following a previous notice on September 29, 2025, would no longer commence as planned.
“I hereby give notice that the commencement of the Third Meeting of the First Session of the Ninth Parliament of the Fourth Republic is deferred until further notice due to circumstances beyond my control,” Speaker Bagbin said in the signed statement.
The notice, bearing the official letterhead of the Office of the Speaker, Parliament House – Accra, was addressed to Members of Parliament and relevant parliamentary offices.
Although the Speaker did not disclose specific reasons for the deferment, his message emphasized that the decision stemmed from factors outside his personal control.
The communication concluded:
“Dated in the Office of the Speaker of Parliament, Accra, this 6th day of October, 2025.”
The postponement means Parliament’s next sitting remains uncertain until a new directive is issued by the Speaker’s office.
