How Stephen Appiah’s demeaning comment stopped me from singing for Black Stars

Musician Grace Ashley has explained that she decided to stop singing about Black Stars after Stephen Appiah’s demeaning comments to her.

According to the artiste, although she was not paid for songs she did for the national team, the fact that it contributed to bringing back the love for the team was motivation enough.

However, after a match in Kumasi where she mobilized supporters for the team, she and her team met with Stephen Appiah when they got to Accra.

Upon seeing the former captain of the black stars, one member of the team jokingly urged the black stars to take good care of her because her songs earned them love from the people of Ghana.

But Stephen Appiah in responding to the plea by Grace Ashley’s team member said if she’s been paid by the state why should the players take care of her.

It was then when Grace Ashley’s team member disclosed to Stephen Appiah that it was a sacrificial job she was doing just to whip up interest in the Black Stars.

Grace Ashley who was speaking to Zionfelix in an interview said to her shock, the former captain of the black stars said “stop singing for the black stars if you are not been paid for what you are doing. Why will you keep singing when no one is paying you for the job you’re doing”.

Grace Ashley said she was shocked by the comments of Stephen Appiah who she thought should know better than to demoralize her.

She stated that since that day, she decided to end singing for the black stars because the players who she was motivating the country to support do not see the essence of what she was doing.
