Chairman Wontumi, Akonta Mining face High Court today

Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Benard Antwi Boasiako, known popularly as Chairman Wontumi, will today appear before the High Court in Accra.

The NPP stalwart is being charged with three mining-related charges.

Wontumi had earlier on Monday reported at the Police Criminal Investigation Department (CID), where he was granted bail of Ghc 1 million with two sureties, which was met.

Speaking to the media on Monday, October 6, 202,5, after the visit to the CID, Andy Appiah Kubi, who is his lead Counsel, disclosed that “The charges are related to mining. Wontumi has been charged with mining without a license and other related offences”.

Adding that “Chairman has been well composed, and expecting that tomorrow when we go to court, all of us will help the court in taking a decision that is judicious”.
