Reconvening Parliament has delayed because there are no funds

The Member of Parliament for Assin South and Ranking Member of the Defence and Interior Committee, Rev. Ntim Fordjour, has asserted that Parliament has been unable to resume sitting due to a lack of funds, as President Mahama has not allocated any resources for parliamentary activities to recommence.
He added that there are several outstanding arrears, noting that Parliament can only resume sitting on October 21, 2025.
According to him, any attempt to reconvene before the said date could lead to a serious crisis.
“There is no money, President Mahama has not allocated money to parliament. That is why we keep postponing our reconvening. If you speak to those in charge of our finances they will give you the details. There are arrears which have not been paid,” he told Adom FM in an interview.
“If Parliament reconvenes before October 21, there will be a crisis. This did not happen under the NPP but because of propaganda, they labelled Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s government incompetent,” he stated.
He continued, “Parliament is not the only institution struggling, the Military, the Ministries, the MMDAs and other agencies are struggling and it’s not funny”.
Meanwhile, the Parliament of Ghana has announced that Parliament will reconvene on October 21, 2025.
