EOCO to Begin Lifestyle Audits in November

The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) has announced plans to commence nationwide lifestyle audits in November 2025.
The exercise will target politicians, musicians, social media influencers, and other high-profile individuals suspected of possessing unexplained wealth.
The initiative, being carried out under the Economic and Organised Crime Office Act, 2010 (Act 804), is aimed at probing the sources of sudden or excessive riches that cannot be justified through legitimate means.
According to EOCO officials, the audits will focus on individuals whose visible lifestyles, including luxury cars, properties, and lavish spending, appear inconsistent with their declared sources of income.
“Anyone unable to explain the legitimate origins of their wealth could face legal action,” a source at EOCO disclosed.
“The law empowers us to investigate, seize, or prosecute individuals involved in financial crimes or possessing assets acquired through illicit means.”
The lifestyle audit forms part of Ghana’s broader effort to strengthen accountability, promote transparency, and curb corruption across public and private sectors.
EOCO has urged the public to cooperate with the exercise and report any suspicious accumulation of wealth.
