Ablakwa congratulates Black Stars, promises visa support for fans

Foreign Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has congratulated the Black Stars on their emphatic qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, promising to make travel easier for Ghanaian fans eager to support the team abroad.
In a post shared on Facebook seen by MyNewsGh, Ablakwa celebrated the national team’s success and announced that the Foreign Ministry would use Ghana’s strong diplomatic ties with the World Cup host nations to secure visa opportunities for supporters.
“Congratulations to the Black Stars on Ghana’s emphatic 2026 FIFA World Cup qualification. Ghanaians can be fully assured that the Foreign Ministry under my leadership shall leverage our improved cordial diplomatic relations with the United States, Canada and Mexico to guarantee appreciable visa quotas for our globally acclaimed football fans,” he wrote. “GHANA, here we come.”
Ghana sealed their qualification after a 1-0 victory over Comoros at the Accra Sports Stadium.
The decisive goal came in the 47th minute when Mohammed Kudus calmly converted a well-timed assist from captain Thomas Partey, sending the home crowd into wild celebration.
The win makes Ghana the fifth African nation to book a spot at the 2026 World Cup, joining Morocco, Tunisia, Egypt, and Algeria. It also marks Ghana as the first West African country to qualify for the tournament, underscoring the team’s resurgence on the continental football stage.
