We are praying the Minister of Finance will hear our ry

The Deputy Director-General of the National Service Authority (NSA) in charge of Finance and Administration, Mr. Donkor Fuseini, has appealed to the Minister of Finance to consider increasing the monthly allowance paid to national service personnel across the country.
Mr. Fuseini expressed optimism that the Ministry of Finance would respond positively to the concerns of the Service Management and its personnel.
“We are praying that the Minister of Finance will hear our cry and maybe smile on us and increase the allowance for our brothers and sisters,” Mr. Fuseini said.
He further revealed that the NSA Management has been making efforts to secure an upward adjustment in the allowance through formal engagements with relevant state bodies.
“That is something the Management has been pushing for. We have been to Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC), so we are hoping and praying that there will be good tidings for us this November,” he added.
Currently, National Service personnel receive GH¢715 per month, an amount many have described as insufficient given rising costs of living across the country.
It would be recalled that on October 8, the Acting Director-General of the NSA, Ruth Dela Seddoh, had hinted at a possible review of the allowance during a media engagement in Accra.
“It is something that the President has expressed his interest in. But we all know the situation we find ourselves in, and so we don’t want to press him too hard. Let’s be hopeful,” Ms. Seddoh told journalists.
She emphasized that negotiations were at an advanced stage, though she declined to reveal the exact figure or percentage increase being considered.
“I don’t want to go ahead of the Minister, but I can assure you that we have had very good talks, and we are hopeful that there will be some increment,” she added.
