Alan’s political relevance is fading — Elvis Darko declares

Ace journalist Elvis Darko has cast doubt on the political future of Alan Kyerematen, arguing that the former Trade Minister’s performance in the last elections proves that his influence has sharply declined.
Mr Darko noted that Kyerematen’s long-standing image as one of Ghana’s most likeable and influential politicians did not translate into electoral success when he contested as an independent candidate.
“All the years we were told that Alan was a unifier, that even NDC members and floating voters would support him, it did not show in the ballot box,” he said on Channel One TV as monitred by MyNewsGh.
“After more than 30 years in the political space, Alan got just 32,457 votes — 0.28 percent. That tells you something.”
Darko compared Kyerematen’s results to those of businessman and political newcomer Nana Kwame Bediako, popularly known as Cheddar, who earned 88,944 votes.
“Cheddar, who had never been part of Ghana’s political system before, beat Alan by nearly three times,” he emphasized.
According to the journalist, this outcome highlights a decline not only in Kyerematen’s personal appeal but also in the viability of his new political movement.
“If this is what the future of the Movement for Change looks like, then it’s bleak,” he remarked.
