Mrs Rawlings shaped ideas and the identity of the NDC—NDC mourns late former first lady

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has eulogized the late Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings for her role she played in shaping the party.
In a statement by the party on her death, they explained that “As one of the founding pillars of the NDC, Mrs. Agyeman-Rawlings played an instrumental role in shaping the ideals and identity of our great party”.
It further indicated that “Despite the ebbs and flows that led to her founding another party, her place in the story of the NDC will always remain significant.”
The statement expressed joy in the fact that while she was alive, she was invited to come back to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) as their founding member; an indication that her legacy was still held in high esteem.
“On the birth date of the party founder, 22nd June 2025, when the NDC institutionalized the date as one of the party’s anniversaries, I publicly declared that it was time for Mrs. Rawlings to resume again her place as the Founding Mother of the NDC—a call that reflected the party’s deep recognition of her foundational role and enduring impact.”
It used the opportunity to extend their heartfelt condolences to the Rawlings family, especially her children and loved ones.
